Madrid. On the occasion of World Climate Day, Dolby Laboratories created the first album that pays tribute to the considered seven sonic wondersendangered, with a musical score by award-winning composer Nainita Desai and now available on Apple Music.

Seven sonic wonders was created in collaboration with wildlife sounds technician Chris Watson, who has worked on Life and on the BBC.

Collects the sound of the Vatnajokull glacier, in Iceland; the dawn chorus of Lake Suvasvesi, Finland; the smiling hippopotamus, in Kenya; the frog beats in Gamboa, in Panama; the murmur of starlings, in the United Kingdom; the whispers of a coral reef, in the Sulu Sea, and the song of a humpback whale, in the Caribbean Sea.

The criteria that Dolby followed to choose them are the same ones they followed to choose the Seven Natural Wonders: epic natural beauty, the most endangered natural sounds, diversity and distribution, ecological importance, historical heritage, geographical location and embodiment of the sense of mystery, as reported by the company in a statement.

The album was mixed by Kurt Martinez with the aim of forging a deeper connection between listeners and Mother Nature, while royalties from the album will go to the charity EarthPercent, which offers the music industry a way to support organizations with the greatest impact in the fight against climate change.

I have been lucky enough to travel all over the world and hear the best of nature. We often neglect the joys that the sounds of the Earth bring us compared to the sights it offers us, but they really go hand in hand. It gives me great pleasure to work with Dolby on this project to reveal some of the most inspiring sounds I have heard on my travels. I hope the tracks transport listeners to the heart of these natural wonders, to the place where I originally placed my microphones – Dolby Atmos helps take them thereWatson explained in a statement from the entity.
