Japan's shot putter woke up again – Science

Japan is only the fifth country to successfully land a spacecraft on the moon.

of Japan The Slim moon lander has woken up again from his sleep after the two-week lunar night.

“We have received a response from Slim and can confirm that the lander has reawakened,” the Japanese Space Administration (Jaxa) wrote on messaging service X on Thursday.

Attached to the message was a picture taken by Slim of the crater of the Moon.

On the lander there have been problems because it hit the surface of the Moon at such an angle that the lander’s solar panels are not pointing in the right direction. According to Jaxa, the lander is also not designed to withstand the harsh conditions of the Moon at night, when the temperature drops to 130 degrees below zero.

Japan is only the fifth country to successfully land a spacecraft on the moon. In the past, the United States, Russia (then the Soviet Union), China and India have succeeded in landing.
