Spotify limits free access to song lyrics: now only available with paid subscription

Spotify has extended the required payment wall to more users to access the lyrics of the songs only in the premium subscription, a function that was born free three years ago.

The streaming audio platform incorporated song lyrics in 2021, both in free accounts and in the premium subscription, so that users could follow them along with the songs of their favorite artists.

In September, the company began a test in which some free account users lost access to song lyrics, a restriction that more users have begun to experience in recent days.

On social networks and forums such as Reddit they have shared the notification that appears – on the web and mobile application – when they try to access the lyrics of the songs, which urges them to subscribe to the premium plan to see them again.
