Google Phone launches emojis that 'talk'

Emojis speak, or at least have a sound. Which can be that of an applause, or a laugh, but also that of poop. The Google Phone app is rolling out “Audio Emoji” to some users as part of an update coming to the beta channel, version 128. The sound effects are linked to the most used emoji. And so, as it is easy to imagine, there will be applause, laughter, celebrations, tears, but above all there is another emoji that is very popular in chats to express different concepts ranging from the obvious insult to the ironic wink or wink in the broadest sense. . And it’s about poop. The exact wording would be the least elegant, but the reproduced sound does not change anyway.

They work in a simple and immediate way: those who own a Google Phone can select one of the sound icons during the call and the app will play a fun graphic animation with the background of the associated sound effect which lasts a couple of seconds and will be played both for whoever calls, both for those who receive. The video published by 9to5google.com, which was able to test the novelty, shows what exactly happens.

The fear that sound emojis could become annoying if sent repeatedly, as often happens to reinforce a message, is completely unfounded. Google has also thought about possible abuse, limiting its use by adopting a cooldown that prevents sounds from being played in rapid succession, one after the other. This function is certainly appreciable in the case of a prolonged laugh or that emoji that lends itself to multiple interpretations.
