Punat introduced A1 smart parking in the fight against congestion: 'We will increase flow and reduce CO2'

In order to reduce traffic congestion and make it easier for locals and guests to find free parking spaces, a smart parking system is now available in Punt na Krk, which covers three parking lots at the Vele vode and Pod topol locations with a total of 134 parking spaces. This is a service introduced by A1 Hrvatska in cooperation with the Municipality of Punat, and will enable vehicle owners to use the mobile application A1 Smart Parking on their phone, they can quickly and easily receive information about available parking spaces and instructions on how to get there, with the possibility of saving the location of the parked vehicle.

In Punt, as a tourist destination, they expect that this solution will bring numerous advantages, such as relief from traffic jams and significant time savings when finding a parking space, as well as reducing harmful emissions. gases, contributes to environmental protection and increases the quality of tourists’ stay.

– With this project, the Municipality of Punat covered 58% of all parking spaces on the stretch from the bus station to the shipyard, that is, in the very center of the town. We believe that the implementation of this project will increase traffic efficiency and contribute to energy savings and reduced CO2 emissions. I would like to thank our partner A1 Hrvatska for the excellent cooperation and support – said Daniel Strčić, head of Punat Municipality.

The project was realized with the support of the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency, which allocated funds to the Municipality of Punat for co-financing the development of smart and sustainable solutions in traffic, and A1 Croatia was selected to implement the system in a public competition which announced by the Municipality.

– The smart parking system will increase the satisfaction of all road users. It will save locals and tourists time and reduce the stressful situations of driving in circles until finding a free parking space, and provide the Municipality with an advanced tool for more efficient traffic management. Such smart solutions are a step forward towards a digitally connected and technologically advanced society of the future, which with the help of technology makes everyday life easier for citizens – said Siniša Staničić, director of the ICT sales and solutions department at A1 Hrvatska.

The introduction of the latest mobility technologies is key to ensuring a high level of public services in Croatia as a popular tourist destination, and smart parking is just one of a series of smart solutions offered by A1 Croatia. Among them are smart bins for waste disposal, advanced sensors for reading air quality and smart meters for gas consumption. All the mentioned solutions enable the automation of jobs by regular reporting on their status, offering ease of use for the end user, but also access to numerous useful information from the companies that maintain the operation of these systems.
