In one of the central districts of Tehran, an officer of the Quds forces, who was in charge of the “Syrian direction”, was shot dead by unknown persons. Iranian media reports on the discovery of a spy network linked to Israel.

The message of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps called the name of the deceased and the rank – Colonel Sayyad Khodaye.

The Quds Force (IRGC-QF), a branch of the Revolutionary Guard Corps, is considered Iran’s main mechanism for nurturing and supporting terrorist groups abroad. Iran uses the IRGC-SC, in particular, to cover intelligence operations. According to reports in the Iranian media, Sayyad Hodaye was in charge of the “Syrian direction.”

The Press TV website wrote that the assassination attempt took place around 4:00 pm local time, on Mujehedin-e-Islam Street, not far from the colonel’s house.

According to media reports, two on a motorcycle drove up to the car, fired at least five shots, three of which hit the head, and then fled. The seatbelt-fastened body of Sayyad Khodaye, who bowed to the ruble, was discovered by his wife.

The IRGC statement, quoted by the Mehr news agency, said the assassination was carried out by “anti-revolutionary elements.”

The assassination of an IRGC colonel coincided with the publication of reports in the Iranian media about the discovery of a spy ring linked to Israeli intelligence. The Fars news agency wrote that several people associated with the “Zionist regime” were arrested.
