Trump meditates revenge and intends to ‘fish out’ Gaetz

“Don’t give Matt Gaetz for dead.” The phrase told to the Daily Beast by a Republican source indicates what will be a recurring theme in the coming days: after leaving the government of Donald Trump due to his scandals, the former Florida representative is considering returning not through the window, but through the main door. In an interview with the conservative activist Charlie KirkGaetz opened up to new scenarios: “I know there are people disappointed with how it went – he commented – but you have to understand that this is part of a political process, and sometimes that path takes you to a different place, and it could be a magnificent place.” It is not clear what he was referring to by the term “glorious place”but there is the hypothesis that Trump is thinking of a special assignment for him, which does not need to pass through the Senate, where some Republican representatives had already declared that they would not confirm Gaetz’s appointment to the role of Attorney General, the equivalent of the Minister of Justice.

The tycoon is described to the media as “very angry” at the stop imposed on his choice by Republican senators. The President-elect is apparently contemplating his revenge. Gaetz ruled out the possibility that, after leaving his seat in Congress, he could run for the Senate, filling the void left by Florida Senator Marco Rubio, appointed as the new Secretary of State. The place is locked down, the Republicans have dominated in Florida for at least eight years, but Gaetz is thinking of something more in sight. And then that seat seems to have been promised to Lara Trump, wife of the tycoon’s son, Eric Trump, and in great ascendancy as co-president of the party. A more subtle political clash could arise over Gaetz between the President-elect and the less aligned senators. At Mar-a-Lago they say that it will not be a “simple appointment”, but a “slap” to the establishment.

The stop imposed by some Republicans who had confirmed their negative opinion on the ratification of Gaetz as the new Minister of Justice has certainly not yet been digested.
