Stuttgart Cross: Chunks of concrete fell from bridge onto road

Stuttgart – That could have ended badly! On Friday, several chunks of a bridge at the Stuttgart motorway junction came loose and crashed onto the A 831. Experts are now checking other bridges nearby.

According to a spokeswoman for Autobahn GmbH, the pieces were up to ten centimeters in size and had probably come loose due to the weather, but were removed in time. There were no accidents, but there were traffic delays: at midday the road in the direction of Singen (Baden-Württemberg) can only be used on one lane, from Vaihingen at Stuttgart a kilometer long formed I’m stayingwhich didn’t clear up for hours, as well as the evasive traffic on county road 1055.

There are four other bridges near the bridge. According to the Autobahn GmbH, these are now being examined by experts. If there are critical areas here too, the dilapidated pieces of concrete will be removed.
