Israel launched two new waves of bombings against military targets this Friday belonging to the overthrown regime of Bashar al Assad in different points of Syriawhich even reached the outskirts of Damascus, various sources reported.
A first wave hit six different targets around the Syrian capital and the southern province of Al Sueida, according to a statement from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights based in the United Kingdom and with an extensive network of collaborators on the ground.
“Israeli aviation resumed its air strikes with new actions directed against the summit of Mount Qasioun in Damascus, the Jalakhla airport on the outskirts of Al Sueida (south) and the Defense and Research laboratories in Masyaf (northwest)”the organization added shortly after in a second note.
For its part, Syrian Television, controlled by the country’s interim authorities, confirmed that there were “intense” Israeli bombings against the surroundings of Damascus where several explosions could be heard, according to EFE.
Although Israel has been carrying out bombings for years against targets of the Syrian Army and its pro-Iranian allies in Syria, the Israeli Air Force has destroyed hundreds of military targets in the Arab country since the fall of Al Assad’s government on the 8th. .
His intention is to prevent this infrastructure and weapons from falling into the hands of the insurgents who overthrew him.
After the overthrow of the Syrian president, Israel also deployed its Army in the demilitarized zone with Syria.
This same Friday, the Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, ordered his troops to maintain their positions on the Syrian side of Mount Hermon, in the demilitarized zone of the Golan Heightsand justified it as “a security issue of great importance”.
Israel already occupied most of the Golan Heights since he snatched them from Syria during the Six Day War from 1967.
