The German basketball champions FC Bayern Munich have achieved a must-win in the Bundesliga and remain close to surprise team MLP Academics Heidelberg. After a weak start, world champion coach Gordon Herbert’s team won clearly with 80:70 (38:40) at the Rostock Seawolves. Bayern now have seven wins and three defeats.
Bayern’s best throwers were Carsen Edwards (17 points) and national player Andreas Obst (14). The Munich team confirmed their improving form three days after their Euroleague home win against Maccabi Tel Aviv. For Rostock, 25 points from Bryce Hamilton were not enough.
Surprisingly, at the top of the table is Heidelberg, which won the top game at Ratiopharm Ulm on Saturday with 69:67 and thus replaced Ulm as table leader. The outsider turned around a double-digit deficit in the second half.
