Trump, ABC will have to give 15 million to the president: the case

ABC News will pay Donald Trump $15 million to settle the president’s defamation lawsuit. Trump sued the network and anchor George Stephanopoulos. The journalist, during the ‘This Week’ program which aired on March 10, 2024, stated that Trump was held civilly responsible for the rape of the writer E. Jean Carroll.

Stephanopoulus inappropriately cited the sentence issued in a trial held in Manhattan. The jury found that Trump sexually abused and defamed Carroll but made no explicit reference to rape, a specific crime different from abuse under New York state law.

ABC News and Trump have reached an agreement to end the dispute: the network will pay 15 million dollars for a foundation and a museum to be created by Trump or in the president’s name. The sum also includes $1 million in legal fees.
