Trump bids farewell to Carter ‘with a rigid face and complete silence’

Washington – AFP, on Wednesday, US President-elect Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, took a farewell look at the coffin of former President Jimmy Carter lying in the Capitol building in Washington, DC, on the eve of the national funeral scheduled for his predecessor, who died ten days ago at the age of 100. With rigid facial expressions and complete silence, Trump stood with his wife for several minutes in front of the coffin that was covered with the American flag in the middle of the majestic hall of the legislative headquarters, before he took a deep breath, took Melania’s hand, turned around and left. Four years ago, when Trump was an outgoing president, his supporters stormed this same building in a failed attempt to prevent Congress from certifying his defeat in the elections.
