Turkey’s ultimatum to the Syrian Kurds: disarmament or war

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan threatened to launch a military operation against the Syrian Kurds if they do not comply with the demand of the new Syrian authorities to disband and disarm the militias. The politician emphasized: this is an ultimatum.

“If the PKK/YPG terrorists do not leave Syria, we will begin a military operation. We are not interested in it, but the conditions are clear: the militants and their command must leave Syria. At the moment, we do not see any preparations for this,” the newspaper quotes him Hurriyet.

According to Fidan, “Kurdish terrorists” are trying to stall for time. It can be assumed that the politician is hinting at Donald Trump coming to power in the United States. The autonomous region created by the Kurds in northeast Syria is under American patronage.

The minister also touched upon reports of ties between Kurdish militants and Israel. He noted that in the Middle East region everyone is in contact with each other.
