Coup attempt foiled in Chad

The Chadian armed forces reported foiling a coup attempt. At least 19 people were killed when a group of militants tried to break into the presidential palace in N’Djamena.

According to Al-Arabiya TV channel, 24 militants took part in the attack, 18 of them were killed and the rest were wounded. One soldier was also killed. Authorities claim that the situation is completely under control.

It should be noted that a few hours before the attack, the head of state, Mahamat Idriss Deby, met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the presidential palace. During the attack, the president was in the palace.
