He noted that the European Union has very close relations with Armenia and is working to deepen them.

When asked whether he sees an opportunity for Armenia to join the European Union, Ambassador Maragos emphasized that if the country wants to join the EU, it is his decision. “There are provisions in the EU treaty that explain how membership should take place,” he added.

But is the European Union waiting for Armenia in its club, Vasilis Maragos said about this, the European Union is strongly committed to deepening its relations with Armenia.

“As you know, we are negotiating a new partnership agenda. Also, we have announced the “Resilience and Growth” program, which we are in the process of implementing,” the EU ambassador noted.

Yesterday, the government approved the draft law on the initiation of the process of Armenia’s accession to the European Union. Its authors are the members of the western “Eurovote”.
