Putin’s adviser criticized a 30 -day ceasefire in Ukraine

Advisor Yuri Ushakov said that the proposal to stop the US only helped the Ukrainian army to rest, emphasizing Russia wanted to agree on a long peace.

“I have stated that Russia’s stance is that temporary ceasefire is just an opportunity to help the Ukrainian armed forces have time to rest, nothing more,” said Yuri Ushakov, President Vladimir Putin’s foreign policy adviser, on television today after phone talks with US National Security Adviser Mike Waltz.

Mr. Ushakov affirmed that Russia was pursuing long -term peace agreements, taking into account the legitimate benefits and concerns of Moscow. “I think no one needs to imitate peaceful actions in this situation. President Vladimir Putin may make more specific and substantive assessments,” he said.

This comment seems to imply that Moscow will not accept a 30 -day ceasefire proposal in Ukraine, which is given by Washington and is accepted by Kiev.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Maria Zakharova on the same day announced the West to deploy peacekeeping forces to Ukraine as “unacceptable thing”. “Foreign military units stationed in Ukraine, regardless of which nominal, means that those countries will conflict with Russia directly. We will respond by all available measures,” she said.

After the negotiations in Saudi Arab on March 11, the US and Ukraine delegation issued a joint statement affirming that Ukraine was “ready to accept the preliminary ceasefire” under the US initiative. The ceasefire for 30 days will take effect as soon as Russia agreed and could extend longer.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was very serious about the ceasefire and ready to stop fighting for 30 days as proposed from the United States.

Ukraine has called on European allies to deploy military forces to the country after the conflict ended, in order to protect them from the risk of re -flunging in the future.

France and Britain proposed to deploy peacekeeping forces to Ukraine after a peace agreement, but Moscow protested and said that this could not be part of the ceasefire or long -term security for Kiev.
