The tensions between Taiwan and China continue to cause concern among many parties around the world. The extensive military exercise that the Chinese army is holding today (Thursday) in the areas surrounding Taiwan, provoked many reactions, along with the question: is China really heading for war? Journalist Oren Nahari discussed the issue with
Liat Ron and Aryeh Miliniak on 103FM.

An Israeli living in the capital of Taiwan: “There is panic, but in reality there is nothing”
“Now, the question is who is creating the mess and what are we doing with it? The mess didn’t start today and won’t be solved tomorrow, so there is a real problem here for everyone,” he explained at the beginning of his words, “The meaning of Taiwan for China is like that of Ukraine for Putin, a model rope that must be brought home , when China says if you don’t return home well there will be an invasion in the years to come.” He noted that “the United States protects Tivian, or at least declares so, there is a zero sum game here.”
He later referred to House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, which caused a great stir and tensions in the region. “For many years she has been a hawk on the Chinese issue, she came to say that the American Congress, at least today, is backing Taiwan,” Nahari explained, “China is going crazy with rage, How does it give the temporary ratification to Taiwan?” According to him, the American system is that only Congress has the authority to declare war, so they may be making a good cop and a bad cop here.
Nahari stressed that “one can come and claim that this is exactly the time to deter China, which has given significant backing to Russia. Pelosi comes and says, ‘Don’t think of doing what Putin will do because we will stand by her.'” He concluded: “If Taiwan is attacked tomorrow, it means world hunger, because a factory in its territory (TSMC) produces 95% of the world’s most advanced chips, and they are critical.”
