A couple of days ago, the president went to the Istres military base in southern France and gave a speech to the armed forces there. Macron appeared on the podium with his right eye swollen and bloodshot: “Please excuse the unpleasant appearance of my eye. It’s something totally harmless, take it as a reference to the Eye of the Tiger…”, he joked, referring to the famous song that is the soundtrack to Rocky IV.
