Branko Bačić announced the start of construction of POS apartments in Istria

Bačić at the opening of the ISPU conference, an annual meeting of experts from the field of construction and spatial planning, highlighted the most important results of his ministry, such as the reconstruction after the Zagreb and Petrin earthquakes, the energy renovation of buildings, the introduction of digital spatial plans and the introduction of affordable housing programs.

At the beginning of the mandate, we introduced a program that we called 4D because it relates to the demographic revitalization of Croatia, decarbonization, digital transformation and documents of strategic importance. So far, we have achieved most of our goals, and everything started with the adoption of the National Housing Policy Plan, with which we started solving the problem of affordable housing, said Bačić.

“The data that every month our application has more than 100 million visits shows that the ISPU portal has become an indispensable tool for citizens, entrepreneurs and local self-government units in the spatial planning and construction sector, he added.

Bačić announced that the EU is preparing a new legislative framework aimed primarily at accommodation rental platforms, while Croatia is recognized as a bright example of market regulation.

In a few years, the Law on Tourism, the Law on Management and Maintenance of Buildings, the Law on Hospitality Activities and the Law on Income Tax were adopted and amended with the aim of regulating the market and directing housing units towards long-term rent, says Bačić.

At the same time, the new Act on Affordable Housing is on its second reading in the Croatian Parliament, and it will additionally regulate the area of state construction and renting, that is, the sale of apartments.

The Minister of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning of Slovenia Jože Novak said that today spatial information systems represent one of the key pillars of modern spatial management.

At a time when we are facing the challenges of climate change, sustainable development and rapid urbanization, high-quality, accessible and connected spatial data are becoming indispensable for making responsible decisions, he said.
