The BVG collective bargaining dispute remains exciting – the outcome is still unclear

The sixth round of negotiations in the collective bargaining dispute at the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) has been concluded – but no result was announced in the evening. The committees of BVG and the Verdi union will first be informed of the results of the negotiations on Friday, it said in a joint statement. “Both parties will then inform employees and the public about the outcome of the discussions.”

It was therefore initially unclear whether there would be an agreement in the collective bargaining dispute or whether Verdi was planning further warning strikes in Berlin’s local transport. The union had already called for warning strikes twice in the ongoing collective bargaining dispute in Berlin.

The union initially negotiated new collective agreements in parallel with transport companies and employers’ associations in all federal states. There are now degrees in several countries. However, an agreement is still pending in Berlin and Brandenburg.

The negotiations in Berlin are not about more money, but about better working conditions within the framework of the general collective agreement. Verdi is demanding, among other things, more vacation days, a minimum rest period of eleven hours between shifts and more vacation pay with the possibility of converting it into days off.
