The account of France-Presse reporter X has been blocked in Turkey

The Paris-based human rights organization “Reporters Without Borders” condemned this move, considering it censorship.

Ankara has been negotiating a peace process with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) since October 2024.

Imprisoned PKK founder Abdullah Öcalan called on the group to lay down its arms in 2025, ending four decades of violence that has claimed nearly 50,000 lives.

In March 2025, during the night of protests following the arrest of Istanbul’s opposition mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, platform X reported demands to block more than 700 accounts. These included accounts from journalists, politicians and students. The platform complied with the request of the Turkish authorities, making those accounts inaccessible inside the country.
