The DPRK has tested a high-thrust solid propellant engine for intercontinental ballistic missiles, which, according to the North Korean side, allows it to hit targets in the United States.

The progress of the tests was observed by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. According to him, we are talking about an achievement that helps strengthen the country’s strategic military potential. Western experts believe that a new power plant is necessary to accommodate several warheads on one carrier.

The engine is made of carbon fiber. It is officially reported that the maximum thrust of the engine is 2,500 kilotons, which exceeds the 1,971 kilotons recorded during similar tests in September 2025.
