The Public Fire Department of the City of Zagreb has had more than 1,200 interventions in the last three days, and as of midnight today, around 200 of them have been carried out, Deputy Commander of the Public Fire Department of the City of Zagreb SiniĊĦa Jembrih said on Sunday. A large number of firefighters are engaged in the field, and 15 aerial vehicles are working at the same time, which, as Jembrih told HTV, is a record for the number of aerial vehicles engaged at the same time in one city. “We are solving the backlog that we still have, occasionally we still receive reports from citizens and we try to help everyone we can”, he said, adding that they expect to carry out a large part of the remaining interventions during the day.
The interventions are distributed throughout the city, and a large number were recorded in the Sljemen area. About 70 percent of the interventions refer to the removal of trees and parts of trees, while the rest refers to the rehabilitation of damaged buildings.
At the same time, firefighters continue to perform regular tasks, such as putting out fires and rescuing people. Jembrich said that the situation has partially calmed down, but he again appealed to the citizens to call the emergency services only in case of immediate threat to life.
“We know that a leaning tree is a problem, but it is not always the job of firefighters, but of municipal and private companies that deal with the maintenance of green areas,” he said.
He added that a large number of calls are related to damage to roofs, and communal services are more involved. renovations have started on several buildings.
In addition to the firefighters, there are also employees of city services on the ground, including Zrinjevac and Zagreb holding – isto.
