The first round of direct talks between Israel and Lebanon will take place on April 14

The first round of direct negotiations between Israel and Lebanon will take place next Tuesday, April 14, in Washington, at the US State Department building. This was reported by The Times of Israel with reference to a senior American official.

According to reports, the parties will be represented at the level of ambassadors to the United States. The Lebanese delegation will be headed by Nada Hamade-Moawad, the Israeli delegation by Yehiel Leiter. The meeting will be mediated by US Ambassador to Beirut Michelle Issa.

In preparation for the face-to-face stage, a trilateral telephone conference is already taking place today with the participation of State Department Advisor Mike Needham.

Earlier, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressed that Israel is committed to starting dialogue as soon as possible. The main conditions on Jerusalem’s agenda remain the disarmament of Hezbollah and the signing of a full-fledged peace treaty. At the moment, the Prime Minister’s Office is refraining from making official comments about the schedule of meetings in Washington.
