The Lebanese Government raises the death toll from Israeli attacks to more than 2,400 despite the truce

The Lebanese authorities have raised this Tuesday to more than 2,400 the fatalities due to Israel’s latest offensive against Lebanon, unleashed on March 2, coinciding with the launch of projectiles by the Shiite party-militia Hezbollah against Israeli territory, a toll that has increased despite the ceasefire reached last Thursday between the governments of both countries.

The Risk and Disaster Management Unit, dependent on the Lebanese Council of Ministers, has put the death toll at 2,454 and 7,658 injured as a result of these bombings in a statement posted on its social networks.

In addition, there have been 118,624 people – and 30,815 families – sheltered in the 635 shelters set up by the authorities – four more than this Monday – after being forced to move, thus abandoning their homes due to Israel’s attacks.

According to the organization, 8,719 “hostile” acts by the Israeli Army have been recorded in Lebanon since the beginning of March, days after Israel and the United States launched their surprise offensive against Iran.

Lebanon and Israel will hold a second meeting in Washington this Thursday, after reaching a ten-day temporary truce last week that, however, has not put an end to the clashes between the Israeli Army and Hezbollah.

This same Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported the launch of several projectiles against its positions deployed in southern Lebanon, particularly in the Rab al Taltin area. Thus, it has denounced in a statement what it considers “flagrant violations of the ceasefire agreement” by the Shiite group.
