Putin presents proposals to Trump for nuclear standoff with Iran

“Russia is firmly committed to all diplomatic efforts to find a peaceful solution to the crisis, and (Putin) has put forward several proposals aimed at resolving differences over Iran’s nuclear program,” Yuri Ushakov, the Kremlin’s adviser on international affairs, told local news agencies after the meeting.

The representative of the Russian regime added that Moscow intends to continue its contacts with Iranian representatives, leaders of the Persian Gulf countries, Israel and the US negotiating team.

Russia argues that Iran has the right to develop atomic energy for “civil purposes”, while the Trump administration rejects the possibility of Iran having a nuclear program.

On the occasion of the first US and Israeli bombings against Iran, on February 28, Putin condemned the attacks, classifying them as “aggression” and “murder”, in relation to the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

This week, the Kremlin also received Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi in Saint Petersburg. During the meeting, Putin defended Iran’s “heroic” fight for its independence and sovereignty, while Araqchi said Tehran was considering resuming negotiations with the White House.
