Kadyrov will run again

The acting leader of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, is going to run for the position of the head of the republic once again. Kadyrov announced this during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin.

The Russian president expressed his gratitude to Kadyrov “for his support during the special military operation”. Putin also wished Kadyrov success in the September 20 elections. “If you approve and if the people elect me again, I will continue to serve you as a soldier and will not disappoint you,” Kadyrov said.

In recent months, there have been active reports in the Russian opposition press, according to which Kadyrov is terminally ill and is preparing to inherit his position to one of his sons.

Ramzan Kadyrov has been in charge of Chechnya since February 2007.
