Gideon Saar met with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, who is in Berlin, met on Tuesday, May 5, with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. During the meeting, the parties discussed relations between the countries, as well as various political and regional issues. The Foreign Minister thanked the Chancellor for his friendship with Israel.

Minister Sa’ar addressed the Iranian regime’s attack on the United Arab Emirates on the evening of May 4 and said that yesterday’s attack was further proof of the insane nature of the Iranian regime. The minister said: “Anyone who sees how this regime behaves towards its neighbors in the region understands the need to prevent it from acquiring nuclear weapons.”

The press service of Minister Saar reported that the parties expressed a common position on two key issues: preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and ensuring free navigation in the region.

Saar also thanked Merz for his clear stance on anti-Semitism and his willingness to counter it in practice.
