Donald Trump praises Ted Turner, founder of CNN, and attacks the network for becoming “woke”

The president of the United States, Donald Trump praised this Wednesday the founder of CNN, Ted Turner after learning of his death, and charged against the network for becoming “woke” and destroying “his creature.”

He was also an active philanthropist who created the United Nations Foundation to support the work of the UN and finance some of its initiatives.

“Be that as it may, he was one of the greats in the history of broadcasting and a friend of mine. Whenever I needed him, he was there, always ready to fight for a good cause!” Trump added.

In paying tribute to Turner, Trump remembered the chain’s new buyers, “wonderful people,” and hoped that they would be “capable of returning it to its former credibility and glory.”

A few weeks ago, the board of shareholders of Warner Bros. Discovery, which includes the CNN network, approved a merger with Paramount Skydance, of which the son of David Ellison, son of magnate Larry Ellison, is the president and CEO.

The Ellisons are known, among other things, for their closeness to Trump.

The vote has yet to be formally certified, and both companies hope to secure approval from local regulators and close the transaction in the third quarter of this year.

President Donald Trump estimated that hostilities with Iran “have ended” in a letter to congressional leaders, as Congress pressures him to request authorization if the conflict continues beyond 60 days. (AFP)
