Iranian media are publishing an address by Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khomeini in connection with the start of the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca. “‘Death to America’ and ‘Death to Israel’ are the slogans of the entire Islamic world, especially the youth,” it says.
Mojtaba called on the countries of the region to create a new Middle East order based on common interests. According to the statement, Washington has no places left in the United States where its forces can feel safe, and the local countries will no longer serve as a shield for American bases.
The Iranian leader, quoted by the opposition website Iran International, also said that in 15 years there will be no Israel: “The unstable Zionist regime is a cancer that is in the last stage of its damned existence.”
