Legionella was discovered at the Zagreb Economy: An epidemiologist explained how it is transmitted

The Institute says that they are finally finding them, and they are still waiting. They flushed and pasteurized the system and initiated additional technical and remedial activities. If necessary, after receiving the final results, appropriate measures will be taken in accordance with the established level of contamination and risk assessment. At this moment, there are no indications that would require the implementation of additional measures until the final results are obtained. Epidemiologist Miroslav Venus he also explained how the infection is transmitted.

– When showering, for example, the so-called aerosol, i.e. inhalation of small water particles. The temperature of the cold water must be below 20 degrees, and the warm water must be above 55, then this is a guarantee that you will not get infected if there is legionella, says Venus.

Legionella causes mild and severe diseases.

– Puntia fever is similar to the flu, Legionnaires’ disease, which has a dominant symptom of pneumonia, adds Venus.

This is not the first case in Zagreb’s public institutions. Earlier, legionella was discovered in kindergarten at the beginning of the year, as well as in FER, a home for the elderly, swimming pools and hospitals.
