Hezbollah Secretary General: “We did not give any commitment not to resist aggression”

Kassem stressed that northern Israel will not be safe while Lebanese villages are being hit, al-Sharq al-Awsat reported. The results of the negotiations, which Qassem called “absurd and humiliating for Lebanon,” are, according to Hezbollah’s secretary general, “completely unacceptable.”

According to Kassem, if the main goal of the negotiations is the disarmament of the “resistance” as the starting point for any agreement, then this means “the elimination of Lebanese power and an existential threat leading to the destruction of its people.” He argues that this demand is aimed at “giving Israel politically what it could not achieve by war, and this is impossible.”

Qasem added: “I call on those in charge to stop this farce and this humiliation called direct negotiations. Then you will become stronger by rallying the entire people around the choice in favor of a sovereign state under your leadership, which enemies will inevitably be forced to submit to.”
