EU air passenger rights: agreement on delays and compensation, 3-hour threshold confirmed

EU member states approved today in Brussels, after negotiations that have lasted for days, a compromise on air passenger rights which keeps the three-hour delay threshold and current compensation levelsadding at the same time new protections for travellers. The EPP group announced this in a note.

“The European Parliament – he declares Andrey NovakovMEP and the House’s chief negotiator on air passenger rights – promised passengers that their rights would not be compromised and we did not give up. Today’s decision by EU member states confirms this. The three-hour threshold is maintained. The compensation is maintained. New rights have been added compared to the status quo. The final vote in Parliament is scheduled for Monday”.

The European Parliament negotiating group will hold the final vote on Monday 15 June. The EPP Group will vote to confirm the agreement and “ensure that the new rights become a reality for passengers as quickly as possible”.
