Migrants, Meloni on the new text on repatriations: "Historic provision. We have changed the EU"

“Today Italy achieved great success in Europe: the European Parliament approved the new European regulation on repatriations. A historic measure, the result above all of the work of the Italian government, which allows us to quickly repatriate those who are not entitled to be in the EU”. Thus Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in a video published on social media and recorded on the sidelines of the G7 work in Evian.

The EU regulation on repatriations approved today by the European Parliament, “also provides, among other things, the possibility of opening repatriation centers in third countries, therefore, in fact, following the path opened by the Italian government with the protocol with Albania. An innovative solution that the Italian and European left has attempted to oppose in every way but which, thanks to this government, has now become a tool available to the whole of Europe”, added Meloni in a video published on social media and recorded on the sidelines of the G7 work in Evian.

“Defending the borders, drastically reducing landings, fighting human traffickers, immediately repatriating those who have no right to stay with us: we promised the Italians that we would change Europe and we did it with courage, patience, determination, because our compass is to respect the program voted by the citizens. We will not stop, we will carry on like this”, underlined the Prime Minister.
