Medvedev will represent Putin at Khamenei’s funeral

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev will lead the Russian delegation at the funeral ceremony of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, which will be held in Tehran in the coming days. This was announced by the Iranian Ambassador in Moscow Kazem Jalali.

“Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, former President and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, as a special representative of President Vladimir Putin, will take part in the farewell ceremony for the martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution in Tehran,” RBC quotes him.

The Russian delegation will also include representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Russian Orthodox Church, and a group of Sunni and Shiite theologians.

The farewell ceremony for the Supreme Leader of the Ayatollah regime will begin on July 4 in Tehran, and he will be buried on July 9 in Mashhad, his hometown. Funeral events will also be held in the holy Shiite city of Qom.
