EU Court: names of doped athletes publishable, but the GDPR sets clear limits

According to the Court of Justice of the EU, in principle, member states can publish via the Internet the name of professional athletes who have violated anti-doping rules, the duration of the disqualification and the reasons for it. However, the Luxembourg judges explain in a ruling concerning a case arising from the case of four Austrian athletes, temporarily or permanently disqualified for doping, the legislation must comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (Gdpr).
