The head of the Peace Council, Nikolai Mladenov, told the Qatari TV channel Al Jazeera that failure to comply with the road map threatens the ceasefire.
According to him, the warning about a possible breakdown of the truce is addressed to both the Palestinian and Israeli sides. Mladenov stressed that there is no better alternative to the existing plan, and a resumption of war would lead to devastating consequences.
Let us recall that, according to Mladenov, Hamas agreed to transfer both civilian and security powers to the committee. Disarmament must cover all types of weapons without exception and take place under international control. The committee will govern the Gaza Strip temporarily and will not become a permanent authority.
