Conte’s no to "woke" it sounds like a gauntlet to the PD secretary

Words that are not new in the dem leader’s vocabulary: Schlein started a tour of the country’s industrial sectors some time ago, together with former minister Andrea Orlando, and recently met Confindustria number one Emanuele Orsini with whom she focused on the economy and growth.

But not only that: the workers of Pomigliano d’Arco, those of Ilva and Stellantis, of Electrolux and Natuzzi. “I’m touring Italy, we’re following the complex disputesalongside the workers”, he says.

A comparison that is rekindled

The scenario that the Dem leader draws from it is that of a country “in difficulty, with absolute poverty reaching the record of 9.8 percent of families, millions of people who struggle to make ends meet and pay the increase in the cost of living and now also the increase in fuel which is reflected in food”. In short, anything but woke. But in the centre-left, Conte’s letter has the confrontation reignited. “And now everyone is waking up. Starting with the American Democrats”, says Renzi who claims to have been among the first to denounce “woke drunkenness”.

He is of a different opinion Riccardo Magi, convinced that this “intoxication” did not occur in Italy: “We are among the last in Europe on civil rights. Gay couples cannot adopt, sexual and emotional education in schools is permitted only with the prior informed consent of the parents. More than 40 years after the abortion law, we have 70 percent of doctors objecting.”
