The pro-Palestinian non-governmental organization Hind Rajab Foundation said it had contacted the Ljubljana district prosecutor’s office and the Slovenian police with a statement against Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar. The Foundation holds him responsible for war crimes, acts of genocide and torture in the Gaza Strip.
The organization claims that Sa’ar, as a member of Israel’s military-political cabinet, participated in the development and public defense of decisions related to the conduct of the war in the Gaza Strip. The foundation called on Slovenian authorities to launch a formal investigation and take steps to bring Saar to justice.
The appeal was submitted on the eve of Saar’s visit to Slovenia, where he is to take part in the opening of the new Israeli embassy in Ljubljana. According to Slovenian media, the visit is scheduled for September 9-10.
The official schedule of the Slovenian Foreign Ministry for September 9 indicates a meeting between Saar and Foreign Minister Tone Kaiser. The Israeli minister will arrive in the country along with an economic delegation.
