At a meeting with Marco Rubio, the Lebanese Prime Minister called for a date for the withdrawal of the IDF from Lebanon

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam met in Washington with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and called for establishing a clear schedule for the implementation of obligations under the agreements reached. Salam demanded to facilitate the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops, while simultaneously extending the power of the state to the entire territory of the country and concentrating weapons exclusively in his hands.

During a meeting on Monday in Washington, Nawaf Salam called for the implementation of a tripartite agreement, including setting a timetable for the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanese territory and concentrating all weapons in the country exclusively in the hands of government authorities, L’Orient-Le Jour reported.

The Lebanese Prime Minister asked to establish a clear schedule for fulfilling obligations, as well as to create a mechanism to monitor their implementation. According to him, the goal is to prevent a situation in which failure to fulfill the obligations of one of the parties becomes an excuse to stop the entire process.

Salam emphasized that the agreement concerns not only security issues, but also the restoration of areas damaged during the fighting, infrastructure and the return of residents to their homes. In addition, he asked to continue American support for the Lebanese army and strengthen its ability to extend state power throughout the country.

Rubio reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to continued support for Lebanon and its official institutions, including the Lebanese Army, and called for continued implementation of the agreement designed to promote stability and security.
