Flávio Bolsonaro celebrates “the overwhelming majority” of the right in the Brazilian Congress | Lula da Silva | Brazil

Senator and presidential candidate Flavio Bolsonaro This Monday he celebrated “the overwhelming majority” that the right and the extreme right have achieved in the Brazilian Parliament after the presidential and legislative elections on Sunday.

In this way, the PL will become, as of February 2027, when the next legislature begins, the largest partisan bench in the Upper House since the promulgation of the 1988 Constitution.

The Senate has gained notable relevance in this electoral campaign, since Flávio Bolsonaro has defended the dismissal of several Supreme Court judges whom he considers enemies of his family and to do so he needs the support of two-thirds of the senators.

The panorama in the Chamber of Deputies is similar. According to an official projection, the PL will be the first minority in the Lower House, with 121 of the 513 deputies, 24 more than in the 2022 elections.

The PT, in coalition with the Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB) and the Green Party (PV), would add 88, six more than four years ago.

“Thank you, God! Thank you, Brazil! The country demonstrated at the polls for change and for the future. Not only in the Presidency of the Republic, but also in the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies,” said Flávio Bolsonaro.

“The federal Legislature is configured for a president like Flávio Bolsonaro! Congratulations also to the elected governors and regional deputies,” he added.

Already in the runoff campaign, which resumes this Monday, Flávio promised to “always put the people above any partisan issue.”

“The effective fight against narcoterrorism has to be done together with governors and mayors. There are just a few days left until Brazil’s rescue! Let’s go with everything!” he exclaimed.
