Dozens of Arab students demonstrated today (Monday) at the entrance to Tel Aviv University and expressed support for the armed Palestinians that the IDF is fighting in Jenin. The students waved Palestinian flags, called for the unification of Gaza and Jenin in a large Arab state and, among other things, chanted: “In the name of national unity And the stick, we will not stop even if there are a thousand funerals every day”, “Alaqsa gate is made of steel, no one will open it” and of course the familiar call “With spirit and blood we have redeemed Palestine”.
In front of them stood several dozen students active in the “Im Tirtzu” movement waving Israeli flags. Shai Rosengarten, head of the movement’s education department, said that he and his colleagues: “Demand that the supporters of terrorists be banned immediately. Students who demonstrate in favor of terrorists should be removed from the street immediately, this is a life-threatening situation for students.” and in which 10 terrorist operatives were eliminated in the heart of the Palestinian city. The operation took place due to intelligence warning information received about a squad of three terrorists associated with the Islamic Jihad, and suspected, among other things, of shooting at our forces as well as planning to carry out attacks on Israeli territory. Following the operation, the Ra’am faction issued a statement of condemnation, claiming that “the operation is a massacre and is the true face of the occupation and the new government”. The IDF in Jenin is supporting terrorism and harming IDF soldiers.”
This is not the first time that students encounter outrageous behavior from their classmates. After the severe attack in Jerusalem in which 7 people were murdered – students at Hadassah College told about extremist posts by their Arab friends. A student studying social work at the college posted a status on WhatsApp in which she wrote: “The 21-year-old heroic martyr from East Jerusalem, he brought our revenge.” Another student who is studying biotechnology, uploaded a WhatsApp status in which he quoted a verse from the Koran: “Allah will abuse them and defeat them”, and that “we let them drink from the same cup they let us drink from, only we are more steadfast”.
