Group of young people abuses man and throws him on railway station in Amsterdam

The Amsterdam police are looking for the man who was seriously assaulted by a group of young people at Bijlmer-Arena station on Friday evening. The perpetrators even threw the victim onto the track.

Shortly before half past nine, the man was attacked by a group of youths. Others stood around shouting and making videos. The victim was kicked several times in the head and then thrown onto the track, where he lay face to the ground.

“We don’t know who the victim is,” said a police spokesman. “We are urgently looking for him. On the one hand for the investigation, but also because the images show that he is being kicked on the head. He may be injured. It would be good if he saw a doctor, if he hasn’t already.”

Witnesses to assault

Police are also looking for witnesses to the assault. Officers arrived shortly after the incident and it is still unclear what prompted it. “It is very difficult for us to say what preceded this,” says the spokesperson.

The man was already off track by then. The question is how he got back on the platform. The video stops the moment he is on the rails. “Of course we will investigate this further with cameras at the station,” says the spokesman. In any case, there was no collision with a train or metro.

The victim is a man in a bright blue coat. He was carrying a backpack. Witnesses can also tip the police anonymously. Nothing is yet known about the perpetrators. The police ask that the shocking images are no longer shared.
