Two – month truce in Yemen

UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg announced the entry into force of a two-month truce between the warring parties. It is timed to coincide with the beginning of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Under the terms of the truce, 18 fuel tankers will be able to enter the port of Hudeidah, and Sana’a Airport will be able to receive two commercial flights a week. Both of these cities are controlled by the Houthis. The parties promised to promote the opening of roads.

Grundberg said that with the good will of the parties, the truce could be continued. However, on the first day, the Houthis said that their positions were hit by multiple rocket launchers and artillery, and unmanned aerial vehicles were seen in the air.
