Armenia must renounce territorial claims to Azerbaijan to normalize relations. Haji!

“Armenia must renounce its territorial claims to Azerbaijan in order to normalize relations,” said Hikmet Haji, an aide to the President of Azerbaijan.

He noted that in order to normalize relations between the two countries, the Azerbaijani side handed over to the Armenian a five-point document, which “includes the principles of the Helsinki Accords.”

“We have presented to the Armenian side the basic principles of the peace treaty, a potential peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.” “They are based on the principles of international law, the principles of good neighborly relations,” Haji said. “Armenia and Azerbaijan must recognize each other’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, inviolability of borders, as well as refrain from the use of force, the threat of force against territorial integrity.”

According to him, when “Armenia puts an end to territorial claims to Azerbaijan,” it will be possible to move forward.

Yerjan considered the proposals passed to Baku to Yerevan acceptable, but incomplete, and supplemented them with proposals, expressing his readiness to start negotiations immediately, based on those complete principles, within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing.

Azerbaijan did not respond to Armenia’s proposal to include the Karabakh issue in the agenda of the talks, and only after the Prime Minister’s speech on Thursday on the tense situation in Karabakh did Baku announce again that it had settled the Karabakh conflict.
