Serious accident in Berlin-Tiergarten

Just 30 minutes earlier, there had been a serious accident in the Tiergarten district: around 7:30 p.m., a tuned Mercedes collided with the Toyota of a driving service provider at the exit of the Tiergarten Tunnel on Ben-Gurion Street. The Mercedes then crashed into a lamppost.

According to initial information, seven people were injured and all had to be taken to hospital.

The fire department had to move the lamp post and parts of the traffic light because both were in danger of tipping over.

The cause of the accident is still unclear, but since the Mercedes was apparently traveling at excessive speed, an illegal street race cannot be ruled out. The police are investigating.

The intersection was closed for several hours and the broken traffic light will probably lead to traffic jams during the morning rush hour.
