The independent candidate for the US presidency, Robert Kennedy Jr., announced today (Monday) that Nicole Shanahan (38), an entrepreneur in the field of technology and a lawyer in the field of patents, will run alongside him as a candidate for the position of vice president.Shanahan, the daughter of a Chinese immigrant who grew up in California, is the ex-wife of Google founder Sergey Brin and has no political experience aside from campaign contributions. Last month, she donated four million dollars to fund a Kennedy Super Bowl broadcast, much to the dismay of the Kennedy family.
Kennedy, the son of Senator Bobby Kennedy who was assassinated in 1968 and the nephew of President John F. Kennedy who was assassinated five years earlier, is an environmental lawyer and known as a staunch opponent of vaccines who also promotes conspiracy theories. He was first registered as a candidate in the Democratic primaries for the presidency, but last October he announced that he would run independently.
Now, after the announcement of the vice presidential candidate, Kennedy will try to collect signatures in at least 23 states in order to have his name appear on the ballot in November, in addition to Joe Biden and Donald Trump. Today it only appears on the notes in Utah.
