Borrell assures Kuleba that the EU will do “more and faster” to support Ukraine militarily

The High Representative for Foreign Policy of the EU, Josep Borrell, assured this Wednesday the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dimitro Kuleba, that the EU will do “more and faster” to militarily support Kiev in the face of the war of aggression of Russia.

This was conveyed in the meeting they held this Wednesday in Brussels, taking advantage of Kuleba’s presence in the Belgian capital, where he participated in the meeting of NATO foreign ministers.

The two have addressed the latest developments in the conflict, including the recent offensive against Ukraine’s critical energy infrastructure. “These barbaric attacks only strengthen the EU’s determination to increase its support for Ukraine,” Borrell stressed.

In this sense, he stressed that the EU and Member States “will do more and faster” to support Ukraine militarily, including by providing ammunition and through the recently agreed €5 billion Ukraine Assistance Fund for this. year within the framework of the European Peace Fund.

The High Representative has also reiterated the EU’s support for the Peace Formula for Ukraine – the only comprehensive basis for a just peace in line with the United Nations Charter – and for the holding of a Peace Summit with a extensive international participation.

Likewise, it has invited Kuleba to attend the next Foreign Affairs Council that will take place on April 22 in Luxembourg, together with the Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, to discuss Ukraine’s needs and better coordinate the EU support already invited. Ukraine to co-host the EU-Ukraine Defense Industrial Forum scheduled for May 6 in Brussels.
