The US takes off the gloves: the harsh criticism in the Security Council
The United States continues to intensify its positions and criticism against Israel. The person who was the biggest supporter of Israel in the days after the seventh of October, began to exert pressure on Israel following the unprecedented killing of civilians in the Gaza Strip (according to the data that Israel publishes, about half of the dead in the Gaza Strip are non-involved).After the United States last week avoided vetoing a proposal in the Security Council for the release of the hostages and the cease-fire, in the debate that took place today (Friday), the American representative to the United Nations sharply attacked: “The United States is shocked and outraged by the killing of the crews. The incident should not have happened and must not be repeated , it is clear that this is not a single incident. We are very disturbed that Israel did not do enough to protect them. As President Biden made clear to Prime Minister Netanyahu – Israel must announce and implement a series of measures concerning the protection of civilians, and the protection of aid teams.”

Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, spoke at the council and held Hamas responsible for harming the aid teams: “Israel never intentionally harms civilians, certainly not aid workers who do such important and significant work. We will continue to cooperate with them and protect their work. The accepted military procedures for opening fire were violated, but this was the result of a tragic mistake that was made a lot because of the cynical plan of action of Hamas that makes use of civilian facilities and vehicles.”

Meanwhile, White House spokesman John Kirby said today in a conversation with reporters that “Netanyahu updated President Biden on the findings of the investigation, and we will continue to closely monitor Israel’s steps to increase humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. As of now, no independent investigation into the incident is planned.” In a conversation with reporters, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, said: “Israel is fulfilling my requests.”
