Four people died in flooded Orsk

The mayor’s office in the Russian city of Orsk, where a large part of the city was flooded after a dam broke, said there had been four deaths in the city, none of which they said were related to the flood.

“Four people died. Two had a heart attack, one died of natural causes, and another committed suicide. No deaths as a result of the flood were recorded,” RIA Novosti quotes a representative of the city mayor’s office as saying.

Let us recall that in Orsk (Orenburg region of the Russian Federation, not far from the border with Kazakhstan) there was a breach of the protective dam that protected the city from the Ural River. Thousands of houses, in which about 11 thousand people lived, were in the flood zone.

First of all, the “old city” of Orsk, where the private sector is located, was flooded. This area is built up mainly with one-story, two- and three-story houses (1930s) and modern cottages.
